Adding an accessory dwelling unit to your property opens the door to endless possibilities. Whether you envision a cozy guest suite, a private in-law apartment, a backyard office, or a creative space that’s uniquely yours, an ADU adds both flexibility and value to your home. It’s an independent living space to use the way you want, while potentially providing additional income, accommodating changing family needs, or simply giving you room to do what you love.
With Northern River Remodel & Restoration, ADUs typically include standard features like its own kitchen, bathroom, and separate entrance, but we also make sure your space is suited for your needs and styled to complement your existing home.
Exterior home improvements like a new deck, updated siding, or energy-efficient windows can completely transform your home, elevating both its appearance and performance. A well-designed deck extends your living space outdoors, new siding refreshes your home’s character and protects it from the elements, and upgraded windows can reduce energy costs while brightening your interior.

Step
During this discussion, we review the project goals and get to know each other. We’ll talk about what you’re looking to accomplish, review photos as inspiration, and get an understanding of what your vision is for the space. Occasionally a site visit is necessary to understand the project more thoroughly, however typically our one on one discussion gets us all of the information we need. During this phase, you can also expect to receive an estimated price range to assess whether the budget and project are in alignment.
Step
Your Custom Design
When an estimate is accepted, we take our project description and estimated budget and move forward to begin the initial designs. During this phase of the project, we draw from the initial meeting to start bringing your vision into reality as a visible concept. Depending on the project, the layouts may vary in complexity, but this will be our starting point for making selections and determining a floorplan.
Finalizing Your Design
When the design is approved and selections are coordinated the plans will then be drafted and engineered as necessary. Not all projects will require the engineering step, but we’ll make sure to communicate with you throughout the process so you know what comes next. Once things are finalized, we’ll discuss expectations for your construction schedule.
Stress Free Permitting
We know filling out permit paperwork and gathering the plans can be daunting. We handle the paperwork and bring the plans to the city or county authority to be reviewed and approved, so you don’t have to worry about it. Depending on the project, we may also need to request a demo permit in order to start the construction process.
When the permits are approved the construction is green lighted to proceed. Our construction progress will track the schedule established earlier in the project and we’ll provide status updates and communicate our progress along the way. The expectations set early on will lend to a worry-free build process. During this phase we’ll also ensure any required inspections are satisfied.
Making Sure You’re Satisfied
During this phase, the construction wraps up and final inspections are completed. From there, you’ll complete a walk through with the contractor to ensure satisfaction and answer any questions.
